My Favorite Breakfast Spots In Waco
Where do I take friends for breakfast when they come to Waco? Here is a list of our top five breakfast spots all around town.
Magnolia Table is a must when visiting Central Texas. We typically enjoy heading over there for breakfast, and I haven’t had anything I haven’t liked. You can eat healthy or you can indulge yourself and won’t regret either decision. Please don’t leave without trying the strawberry butter, I’ve never had anything else like it! My go to breakfast is ‘The Kind” which has some leafy greens with a fantastic vinaigrette, eggs and sausage. The lunch is also delicious, but a bit more challenging to schedule as the wait is usually quite long. We have always had success going very early and getting in pretty quick, but the later you wait the longer you’ll wait.
Lula Janes is a unique and well priced Waco breakfast spot. You can drop in and grab a delightful slice of quiche, or my favorite baked oatmeal with a bit of brown sugar sprinkled on top. There is an assortment of baked goods a decent cup of coffee and an eclectic and cozy feel. Patrons can eat inside or outside. This locally owned eatery has a lovely garden next door that they use for their home made delicacies and has a true community feel. I love that the silverware doesn’t match, the people behind the counter are kind, and the home made foods are delicious
Torchy’s Tacos has the fantastic breakfast tacos and delicious chips and queso too. If you aren’t from Texas (or Arizona or Colorado), this is a breakfast that is fun and tasty. Torchy’s has yummy salsas, a variety of drinks (a full service bar too) and is a celebration of the breakfast taco tradition in Texas. This chain originated just 90 miles from Waco, and is now a chain with over 50 restaurants. Our out of town friends love it!
William Hoyt Bagels is a local food truck located behind Common Grounds by the Baylor Campus. I love to order a bagel, then walk to Common Grounds to grab a coffee and then return to grab my freshly prepared bagel made to order. There are a few tables where guests can sit and eat, or the bagel and coffee are a great grab and go meal if you want a quick bite before you set off to shop and sight see. I love the everything bagel with plain cream cheese, but the flavored cream cheeses are a family favorite at our house.
Milo All Day is a great Sunday Brunch spot! The ambiance is fabulous, guests can eat inside or outside on their big spacious patio, all while enjoying good coffee, a tasty mimosa and some original and fantastic menu options. The servers are happy to share their tips on specials of the day, but they are famous for their biscuits and the French toast is amazing. I never leave Milo without eating a biscuit! It is a little bigger, so they can seat bigger parties easier than most of the other spots around town, so if you have bigger group Milo may be a great choice.
There are many breakfast spots all over Waco, these are just the top five that I take friends and family to when they come visit us. I prefer to take guests to food and shopping spots that are different to those they have at home…after all that’s the point of travel is to have new experiences and make great memories.
