Delicious & Easy Finger Foods, No Cooking Required, Helped Create A Memorable Day
It’s been ages…but I did it…I had a small group over to The Morrow House. Don’t worry, we social distanced, left all the doors open, wore masks and stayed safe….and it was fun! Actually it was less of a gathering and more of an open house tour…but it was great nonetheless.
I wasn’t feeding anyone a meal, just wanted to have a light snack for folks as they walked through…so this is what my hubby and I came up with.
My priority was to have flavorful yet simple foods that are easy to grab and go. Summer is such a great time of year to put together a little something like this because of the wonderful fruits available. We used raspberries, blackberries, honey dew melon and cantaloupe to put together this little spread in no time at all. I chose to use cocktail sticks to assemble these yummy ingredients and make some of the finger foods come together easily. I think finger foods folks can carry around made it easy for folks to spread out and keep a safe distance.
If you are contemplating having a little get together and looking for some different ideas…here’s what we put together…and they ended up looking as good as they tasted.
Savory Sticks:
Ingredients: Salami, Olives (Kalamatta & Green), Cheese (Mozarella & Havarti). Super simple, just cut and fold the salami and alternate olive and cheese.
Ingredients: Prosciutto, Honey Dew Melon & Cantaloupe. Cube the melon, and wrap in a slice of prosciutto.
Sweet Sticks:
Ingredients: Cubed brownie, Raspberry, Powdered Sugar.
Sweet Rounds:
Ingredients: Italian Bread Crustini, Soft Brie Cheese, Blackberry
Drinks:
Mimosa: Orange Juice & Sparkling White Wine with a twist of Raspberry Puree
The final touch was presenting this small feast on vintage glassware I inherited from my great grandmother. I believe the pattern is called Star Gazer, and these gorgeous platters moved from her farm in Missouri, to my grandmother’s home in California to my home in Waco, Texas. It warms my heart to use heirlooms in my home, it just makes everything more special. I placed some of the platters on wooden pedestals from around the house to help with the presentation, and I think it turned out great!
The food was light and delicious, the conversation was encouraging and wonderful, the clean up was quick and easy and the satisfaction all of us felt afterward was immeasurable.
